David Robert Joseph Beckham, one of the famous gentlemen, born in Leytonstone, England in 1975, is recognised as one of the best free-kick takers of recent times. His astonishing ability to get bend on the ball and his gentle personality took him to the top of the world.
About David Beckham
He started his career in 1995 with his first club Manchester United, where he would win six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, one Champions League and an Intercontinental Cup.
During the early years of his career, he was recognised as a great free-kick expert but yet he was not the worldwide symbol he is today.
Beckham was infamously shown a red card while playing for England against Argentina at the 1998 World Cup finals, which resulted in a huge media and public backlash against him.
But then, in the following season, he won the treble with United during a golden era for the Red Devils.
His relationship with Spice Girl Victoria Adams led to even more media interest. He married Victoria in 1999 and had went on to have four children: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper.
In 2003 he was signed by Real Madrid to join the Galacticos, and alongside players such as Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo and Guti would win the Spanish league title.
Then he would cross the continent to play at LA Galaxy, were he won two MLS Cups.
In 2013 he signed for Paris Saint Germain, were his salary was donated to a local children’s charity – and he helped the Parisians lift the league title after 19 years.
But he was not just a fabulous and incredible player; he is also a gentleman. He once declared that maybe all his social life and his glamour shadowed his sporting life and people directed their attention to his body and not his play.
But, indisputably, he is one of the best free-kick takers and a great footballer – and he will remain in United fans’ hearts for eternity.
